Всесвітній день в'язання на публіці
Починаючи з 2005 року в світі відзначають незвичайне свято — Всесвітній день в'язання на публіці. Проходить воно незвично: всі, хто любить в'язати спицями або гачком, збираються у громадському місці — парку, сквері, кафе — і в`яжуть разом, пишуть Українські новини.
Вперше Всесвітній день в'язання на публіці пройшов у Парижі. Придумала цю забаву, яка стала традицією, любителька в'язання Даніель Лендес. З часом публічним в'язанням захопилися не лише француженки, але і мешканки інших країн (свято проводиться, наприклад, у США, Англії, Швеції, Фінляндії, Норвегії, Естонії), а в акції з'явилася своя емблема, на якій зображені дві в'язальні спиці на тлі карти Європи.
У США запатентована кулькова ручка
Винахід принципу роботи кулькової ручки офіційно датується кінцем 19-го століття, а винахід в 1938 році схожої на сучасну кулькову ручку належить угорському журналісту Ласло Біро. Йому доводилося багато писати звичайним пером, яке вимагало чорнильниці і залишало плями, тому і прийшла ідея створити ручку "без турбот". Винахід виявився багатообіцяючим в грошовому плані. Майже відразу патент на виробництво кулькових ручок викупили ВПС Великобританії для своїх пілотів. Їм було вкрай незручно возитися з пір'яними ручками в повітрі.
Опинившись незабаром в Аргентині, Біро перереєстрував свій патент і з великою вигодою продав його за $1 млн. компанії "Eversharp". Аргентинська компанія налагодила перше в світі масове виробництво кулькових ручок.
10 червня 1943 року винахідливий американський комівояжер Мілтон Рейнольдс запатентував таку ручку в США і налагодив її масове виробництво. Ручки розходилися величезними партіями. Тільки за один день в одному нью-йоркському магазині було продано 10 тис. штук!
У 1958 році француз Марсель Бік допрацював кулькову ручку і отримав найдешевшу у виробництві модель під назвою BIC. Вона поклала початок створенню компанії "BIC Corporation", яка контролює сьогодні одну третину ринку продажів кулькових ручок в США.
